If there’s a public address announcer at Edmond Memorial today and Norman North’s record is announced before it begins play at the American Legion AAA state tournament, some folks might figure the Timberwolves for a state-tourney farce.
Wrong.
“They’ve been playing a majors schedule,” North high school baseball coach Brian Aylor said.
Indeed they have.
Under the direction of coach Brad Dolejsi, Aylor’s springtime assistant, a close approximation of next spring’s North varsity squad has played a summer schedule against American Legion Majors programs, mostly comprised of high school graduates.

Tournament host Ripley closed out the Maveric Mini-Mart Classic strong Saturday, dominating Stonewall, 9-3, to land in third place on the tourney.With Kaleb Hoffman behind the plate, Warrior pitcher Danny Hamm picked up the win, improving to 1-1 on the season. Hamm struck out 11 and allowed only five walks. He ran into trouble in the third, allowing a couple of hits, but pushed through to seal the win.

Taylor lifts Titans over Yellowjackets

Zach Taylor’s three-run home run to center field gave Carl Albert a come-from-behind 7-6 victory over Choctaw Thursday at Carl Albert High School.The Yellowjackets built a 4-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning before the Titans (3-2) rallied back to even things out at 4-4 in the latter half of the frame.

Just call Stillwater’s Korbin Kenmore the Plainsmen Killer.Kenmore, who beat Enid 5-2 at David Allen Memorial Ballpark last season, threw a five-hitter, struck out six and walked only one in beating the Plainsmen 9-2 Monday in Centennial Conference baseball action.Seth Floyd was 3-for-3 with two RBI for Enid, but Kenmore was able to shut down the rest of the lineup in ending the Plainsmen’s four-game winning streak.The loss dropped the Plainsmen to 2-2 in conference play and 10-6 overall. Stillwater is 3-3 and 8-9.“Kenmore is a very good pitcher,’’ said Enid coach Scott Baugh. “He did the same thing against us last year. He had a real good breaking ball.’’
